DYI Cool Hamster Cages

The other day, I found this article about Sonic, a lucky little dwarf hamster who is living in one of the most unique cool hamster cages in Austria.

Martina, Sonic’s owner, has transformed an IKEA shelf into a very unique 5 feet long habitat so her little dwarf hamster has more than enough space to roam, stuff bedding into his little cheeks and pack it into the homemade willow-stem dens and tunnels of his cage.

Air holes in the top and on both sides ensure that Sonic gets enough air when he is roaming around or just hanging out. The front is Plexiglas, the sliding doors are real glass to make sure the little dwarf hamster can’t escape – but why would such a lucky dwarf hamster ever want to leave his cool cage?

Did you know that hamsters are red blind? This is why Sonic has a red Christmas lights chain in his cage, so Martina can watch him sleeping, without disturbing his happy hamster dreams.
